Word Association Study
Dear Parent,
If you have a child or teenager under 17* and are interested, we would like to invite you to participate in a 10-minute word association study. We call it I Say, You Say game.
The study is very simple and kids typically find it fun. You will be reading words from the screen to the child - one word at a time. For each word you read, you'll ask the child to give you words that pop into her/his head when they hear your word. There will be 25 words in total and the child will be asked to give three words.
The purpose of the study is to capture the richness of children's word associations throughout development. Young children often have creative and surprising associations to everyday words and our goal is to record them in the organic form. That is why your participation is particularly valuable, as kids won't be shy to share their thoughts with you.
Your and child's participation in this study is entirely voluntary and no personal information will be collected (only the child's age (DOB), gender, language(s) the child speaks, and responses). The summary of the anonymous data collected will be freely available to the research community and for public use.
This study is carried out by researchers at the Ohio State University and University of Melbourne. We would all like to thank you for your participation. Please click the Participate
